We are starting a daily feel-good post, where our team is pooling together resources on how you can stay positive even when things around you may be a bit fearful. As most of you who follow us for some time already know, we post regular content on gamification and game design to help our audience. I believe in a time where a lot of fearful messaging is going on whether it is about staying healthy given the COVID-19 pandemic or pending economic uncertainty or recession, we need a bit of positive to counter all the negatives.
Because we are in the business of creating strong emotional connections (games do that), we felt it to be important to challenge ourselves to do something positive for our followers.
We will be sharing our selection of:
- feelgood games
- feelgood songs
- feelgood things to do
For years we have been posting a daily fun break, from today we will add a daily feelgood inspiration and we will keep it going daily for as long as we face social distancing and isolation. After the restrictions lift, we may revise the frequency or remove it altogether.
Daily feel-good inspiration from the team at Gamification Nation
Feelgood game of the day: The humble puzzle
The puzzle is a game that most people have played at some point in life. I think there is something strangely satisfying when you see a large amount of pieces coming together into a beautiful complete picture. If you don’t have a box at home to open and start with, then fear not there are many puzzle apps available for free download too. The one I use is called Jigsaw Puzzle. It allows me to choose how many pieces I want to have in the puzzle and it also allows to start with the borders or just scatter pieces outside of he picture frame area. They also have some gamified challenges in the app, which I quite enjoy and each completion earns me coins which I can eventually spend on puzzle packs. I can also upload my own pictures and create new puzzles. That way you can re-enjoy holiday snaps whilst keeping your mind engaged in something positive.
Feelgood song of the day: Happy by Pharrell Williams
If you have seen me speak in the last few years, you may remember this trick from GWC14 where this woke up even the snorers in the audience and got everyone on their feet.
Feelgood thing to do: Be grateful for the little things
Some days it is hard to find something to be grateful for, but every day you can find a little thing. Whether it is to be surrounded by people that love you or whether a flower just showed you all its beauty. You don’t have to step outside for it, you can just notice it and be grateful for. Gratitude is a powerful feeling even if it is largely gentle.
Feel free to share the good feeling forward if you think it may be helpful to someone.
