Feminine gamification viewpoint: Breakaway

Feminine gamification viewpoint: Breakaway

The game Breakaway is looking to change attitudes of boys and girls between 9 and 15 towards understanding what is a healthy, equal attitude towards girls and women. Through playing soccer the players learn about various cases about violence against women and girls. Throughout the game, the player is asked to make positive or negative choices around sexist behaviors via a series of soccer and cultural challenges. Their actions have impact and affect how well they score in the game.

The BREAKAWAY database so far shows that 86% of people playing the game end up making more positive than negative choices around how to treat girls and women. Those who make the positive choices win the game.

The example of this serious game show the opportunity we have to change attitudes and as a result hopefully also behaviours.

What games or initiatives have you seen recently that have a positive impact in this world?
