Learning by designing to FAIL

An Coppens | 20th December, 2017

share:

A few weeks ago, I spoke at Gamification Europe in Brighton about designing to FAIL or to create first attempts in learning. After the talk I received a lot of requests from people for the slides and if a video came to share the video. So below are both the video of the talk and the slideshare. If I raised questions that you would like me to discuss, feel free to ask in the comments.

I am also adding in the link to the intro music with vocals from the fabulous Nella (@nellamusic), which didn’t get played in the live session but I talked about in any case. And for those of you who didn’t get the context, all speakers were asked to provide a game music intro for their talk. I just find this piece amazing and it described my topic well, in the game world of warcraft it comes just before a main hero falls and with a talk about failure it felt the most appropriate. Equally I joked before the event with Nella, who at that point had just won an award, that a bit of her magic could rub off and help us get an award, which it also did when we won the “Outstanding Gamification Agency Award”. So I invite you to click on the link above to hear the piece and explore the other work from Nella Dwyer too.

Below is the video of my whole presentation at Gamification Europe and the slide share, feel free to share both forward.  It is based on the lessons I learned by actively designing learning gamification projects for clients. Feel free to add any questions regarding learning gamification or the lessons we learned over the years in the comments or in a private message to me.
